About Me

Hi there! You can call me Cate or Caitlin, whichever you prefer. I was born and raised in Burlington, Ontario and moved to Nova Scotia with my family in July 2022. My hobbies include writing fiction, digital art, sculpting, swimming, archery, and video games!

I have always been enamoured with other cultures and languages, and love to hear the stories that people from other countries bring with them! Despite being an English language tutor, I believe every culture and language is beautiful and worth celebrating; they are a big part of who we are as people, and it's important to respect that.

One of my biggest goals is to finally travel outside of North America!

Q: What qualifications do you have?

I have a diploma from Sheridan College in Educational Support and worked as an educational assistant in Ontario before moving to Nova Scotia. I have also been TEFL-certified since January 2024, but have been supporting English language learners since long before that. I have also had multiple Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Q: Are you able to teach at the student's home?

Unfortunately, no. It's far too expensive for me to be travelling across the HRM to individual houses; teaching at the local libraries helps to reduce both expenses and setup time for teaching.

Q: Do you know any other languages?

I used to be more fluent in French when I was younger, but I've lost much of it since I don't get the chance to use it very much. I have some familiarity with Swedish, Japanese, and Korean as well, but I am far from able to speak them fluently.
